  • PhD in Mathematics Teaching Methods, College of Basic Education, University of Duhok, 2023.
  • MA in Teaching Methods, College of Education, University of Zakho, 2011.
  • BA in Mathematics, College of Basic Education, University of Duhok, 2006.

I began my career in university-level teaching in 2011, following the completion of my Master’s degree in Mathematics Education from the University of Zakho. During my time there, I taught courses on teaching methodologies, as well as modules focused on classroom observation and practical application. These early years served as a hands-on training ground, helping me bridge the gap between the theoretical preparation of educators and the realities they encounter in the classroom.

In 2016, I moved to the College of Basic Education at the University of Duhok, where I taught Educational Statistics and Teaching Methodologies. This combination allowed me to examine mathematics education through the dual lenses of curriculum and assessment. Following the department’s transition to Educational Counseling in 2019, I continued my work with students, tailoring my approach to this new specialization.

In 2023, I earned my PhD in Mathematics Education from the same college. In my teaching today, I strive to help students learn how to think, analyze, and solve problems. I aim for them to understand that mathematical knowledge is not merely a collection of rules and procedures, but a tool for fostering critical thinking, independent learning, and creativity. Consequently, I am committed to continuously refining my teaching practices and integrating theory with practical application, ensuring that my students are well-equipped to apply what they have learned across a variety of educational and real-life contexts.

Throughout my academic career, I have consistently sought to integrate scientific research with continuous professional development. In 2019, I presented a research paper at a conference held at the University of Garmian, titled "The Impact of Using the SCAMPER Strategy on Achievement and Visual Thinking in Mathematics among Eighth-Grade Female Students." This study explored the application of modern teaching strategies to enhance academic achievement and foster visual thinking skills in students.

Furthermore, I presented research at the Second Joint International Conference on Humanities—organized by Salahaddin University-Erbil from April 17–18, 2024—which featured participation from various international universities and research centers. In April 2025, I participated in the first EDUPC International Conference, organized by the College of Education at the University of Zakho, which focused on education, pedagogy, and curricula.

Regarding professional development, I completed an English language enhancement course at the University of Duhok. Additionally, between November 2022 and April 2023, I completed a 30-unit pedagogy program at the Duhok Polytechnic University, for which I received a certificate of completion. I also earned a "Training of Trainers" (TOT) certification in February 2025.

These activities reflect my ongoing commitment to advancing my academic and pedagogical competencies, staying abreast of developments in the field of education, and contributing to the enhancement of teaching quality, scientific research, and service to the university community.

Research

My research interests lie within the fields of education and the social sciences, with a particular focus on examining psychological variables and their relationship to the educational process and human behavior. Through my research, I seek to understand the educational, social, and psychological factors that influence learning, as well as cognitive and emotional development—ultimately contributing to the improvement of educational practices and the enhancement of the quality of education.

I am also interested in studying psychological variables—such as motivation, attitudes, anxiety, psychological adjustment, and well-being—in relation to academic performance and social interaction. I prioritize research that employs rigorous scientific methodologies and statistical analysis to investigate educational and psychological phenomena and to interpret the relationships between various variables.

My research aims to contribute to the generation of robust scientific knowledge that supports the development of educational policies and practices, while fostering a deeper understanding of psychological and social issues within the educational environment—ultimately serving students, educational institutions, and society at large.

I began my academic supervision of undergraduate students in 2012 at the University of Zakho, and I have continued this work at the University of Duhok since 2016. My supervisory activities have encompassed research in the fields of education, the social sciences, and educational and psychological studies.

My academic responsibilities include guiding students in selecting research topics, formulating research problems and objectives, determining appropriate methodologies and instruments, analyzing data, and interpreting findings. Furthermore, I review research projects to enhance their scientific and methodological quality.

I also focus on fostering students' critical thinking and academic writing skills, promoting their adherence to research ethics, and encouraging them to apply theoretical knowledge to the study and resolution of educational, social, and psychological issues based on sound scientific principles.

This ongoing supervisory work contributes to developing students' research capabilities, improving the quality of university-level research, and strengthening the role of higher education in generating knowledge and serving society.
