Educational Counseling
About the Department
The Educational Counseling Department is a fundamental and effective pillar within educational institutions. It serves as a bridge between the student and the educational environment, working to maximize their mutual benefit. This department's role is not limited to resolving urgent problems; it goes beyond that to become a driving force for the comprehensive development of the individual and the school community.
Description
Educational Counseling is a systematic and ongoing professional process that aims to help students gain a deeper understanding of themselves, their abilities, interests, and aptitudes, and guide them toward achieving their maximum academic, personal, and social potential. The department relies on the principles of educational psychology and sociology to provide an integrated range of preventive, developmental, and therapeutic services. Its work encompasses dealing with various age groups, from adapting to the school environment to planning for career paths and graduate studies. This process is implemented through individual or group counseling sessions and various guidance programs.
Objectives
The goals of the Educational Counseling Department focus on three main axes: development, prevention, and treatment:
Comprehensive Development and Growth:
Self-Development: Helping students develop a positive self-concept and enhance their self-confidence, decision-making abilities, and responsibility.
Academic Growth: Improving academic performance by helping students acquire effective study skills, time management, and sound academic planning.
Social and Emotional Growth: Providing students with the skills necessary to interact positively with others, resolve conflicts, and cope with stress and various emotions in a healthy way.
Prevention and Protection: Proactively working to prevent academic, behavioral, and psychological problems, such as dropping out of school or engaging in undesirable behaviors, through awareness and early intervention programs.
Providing a safe and supportive learning environment that promotes student mental health.
Treatment and Intervention: Providing support and counseling to students facing psychological, academic, or social difficulties, helping them adapt and overcome these challenges.
Acting as a liaison with family, community, and specialized agencies to ensure appropriate support is provided in cases requiring deeper intervention.
In short, the Educational Counseling Department seeks to empower students to become well-adjusted, productive individuals capable of adapting and succeeding in their future academic and personal lives.
